Centereach, NY, Centereach Fire Department will be af489c88b40dab2c284237d6daed3409hosting an American Red Cross sponsored Blood Drive on Saturday, June 10th from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM at 9 South Washington Avenue, Centereach, NY 11720, the firehouse headquarters.

Members of the local community and surrounding areas are encouraged to attend the event and share with their friends and family.

Every 2 seconds, someone in the US needs blood.  Every day approximately 36,000 units of blood are needed in the US.  Blood donating is a quick and easy process and could help save a life.

Remembering Charles Shea Jr. 1946-2016

It is with deep regret and sadness that the Centereach Fire Department announces the passing of Life Member Charles W. Shea, Jr.  Charles was an active life member of the department and spent many years in Engine Company 1 where he was known for his expertise as a training chauffeur and pump operator of the departments larger apparatus.

We are greatly saddened by the loss of Charles and offer our commiserations to his loved ones at this time.


Centereach Fire Department Host Annual 9/11 Memorial Ceremony


On September 11th, the Centereach Fire Department hosted their annual 9/11 memorial ceremony. 2016 marks the 15th anniversary of the September 11th attacks.  Each year the department invites the local community to attend the remembrance ceremony.

Music was performed by the Centereach High School Choir and refreshments followed at the end of the ceremony.

Thank you to all of the members of the community who attended.

Centereach Fire Department Blood Drive

Sunday, June 26th, Centereach, NY.

The Centereach Fire Department would like to thank the local community for attending and helping contribute to the Red Cross Blood Drive, hosted today at the Centereach Fire Department headquarters.  Today, the local community and members of the department helped donate 39 pints of blood for the Red Cross.

Each day approximately 36,000 pints of blood are needed throughout the US and every two seconds someone in the US needs blood.

May 8th Structure Fire

On May 8th at 2:50 PM, Centereach Fire Department were dispatched for a structure fire on Kejaro Court.  Upon arriving on scene Chief Mayzus confirmed that flames were showing from the exterior of the building and signaled a confirmed structure fire.

Chief Corley arrived on scene and took the role of incident command.

Immediately mutual aid requests were sent out to Farmingville for a Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) and Selden / Ronkonkoma for additional engines and man power.

Engine 9 was first of the Centereach units to arrive on scene, followed by Engine 2, Rescue 4, Engine 6 and Engine 12.

Upon extinguishing the fire, the usual protocols were followed and all units were signaled to return to their respective stations.

Centereach Fire Department would like to thank the members of Farmingville, Ronkonkoma & Selden for their assistance during this call.

The Passing of Ex-Chief-Laurence-Cornelius



It is with deep regret that the Centereach Fire Department announces the passing of Ex-Chief Laurence Cornelius , chief of the Department 1960-61, charter member of Engine Co. 1(1956) Ex-Captain of Engine Co. 1(1957&58)

Ex-Chief Laurence Cornelius was a valued member of the department and dedicated his time and effort to the Centereach community.

The Centereach Fire Department would like to offer their deepest condolences to the family, friends and all those that knew Ex-Chief Laurence Cornelius.
