Remembering Ex-Chief Daniel Peluso

It is with deep regret and sadness to announce the passing of Daniel Peluso Ex-Chief/Ex-Commissioner of the Centereach Fire Department.  Danny Peluso was a 32 year member of the Centereach Fire Department joining in June of 1985, Originally as a member of Emergency Company 1 and later Engine Company 3.  Danny worked for many years as a mechanic and would later work on Firetrucks, as a mechanic he was very skilled with tools especially with the extrication tools at Motor Vehicle Accidents.  Danny was a very skilled Firefighter and Instructor for newer members of the Department and served many years on the training staff.  He quickly rose through the ranks and was elected Lieutenant of Emergency Company starting in 1988 and later moving up to Captain from 1992 through 1994.  He was elected an Assistant Chief in 1995 and served through 1997 when he was elected Chief of the Department which he served in 1998 and 1999 respectively.  After Chief he continued serving as a dedicated member, he was elected Commissioner serving from 2001 to 2003 and again in 2015.  As dedicated of a Firefighter he was, he was even more dedicated to his family and friends.  He married his wife Tracy in 1989 and has two children Danny and Erin.  Danny enjoyed spending time with family and friends, going on vacations, and playing and singing in his band.  As serious as he could be in an emergency he could also give everyone a good laugh.  We have not only lost a member of our Department but of our family as well. We send the deepest sympathy, condolences and love to his family. Rest Easy Brother you will never be forgotten. “The Best”.

We are saddened by the loss of our Chief and fellow brother firefighter and send the deepest sympathy to his family and friends. Rest East Chief you will not be forgotten.

We would like to thank all our brave Firefighters as well as our fellow Brother & Sister Firefighters  for all that you do.  We know everyone who volunteers puts in long hours and sleepless nights taking care of the needs of our community  and with the mutual goal of meeting our Department’s mission.  We know that you’re dedicated, we know that you care, and we  also know that you don’t get the amount of thanks that you deserve most of the time.  Once again thank you for all you do, stay safe and see you on the fireground.
