Centereach FD Celebrates EMS Week

On Monday, May 16, 2016 the Mobile Emergency Response Vehicle (MERV) was brought to Centereach Fire Department by Suffolk Fire Rescue.  Volunteers from the Department were able to walk through the MERV as well as get information on how to request it, what it provides, and when it can be useful to the Department.  Following the MERV tour, the Centereach Fire Department enjoyed an ice cream social with ice cream and toping donated by East End Sign Design as well as Ralph’s Italian Ices of Mastic.

The Centereach Fire Department has many other activities planned for EMS week, including a trivia night with raffles and prizes along with food donated by Buffalo Wild Wings and White Castle.

As a volunteer at Centereach Fire Department, know that there is not a single day that goes by where hard work and dedication is not appreciated. Centereach volunteers are there when the community needs them, whether it is to apply a bandage to a child’s scraped knee, or to hold the hand of a new widow as the rest of the crew works feverishly to save a life. When that alarm goes off in the dead of night they rise to the occasion, knowing someone is in need of assistance, it is appreciated more than they know and more than they are told.

The Centereach Fire District would like to thank the Volunteers for their dedication and commitment to their community for responding to over 3,000 alarms for 2015.
